CDC Develops Section on Mass Casualties

Of the CBRNE agents, explosives get the least attention but in actuality pose significant threats as explosive compounds are both readly available and or relativly easily synthesized. The injuries resulting from blast trauma are complex, not always obvious and should terrorists choose to bring a suicide bombing campaign to our shores it could create havoc and challange our health care system.

The CDC has developed a section on mass casualties that provides excellent information about the clinical problems arising from blast injuries.

We have attached a link to their web site and urge that you spend some time reviewing it. http://www.bt.cdc.gov/masscasualties/
