Institute for Bio-Security
Partners with the Missouri Nurses’ Association (MONA) on Joint Training
Program
Program will be specific to needs of nurses in responding to suspected bioterrorism
events
Nurses comprise the largest segment of healthcare professionals, and will thus
be at the forefront in response to a known or suspected bioterrorism attack. Despite
this, many nurses have not received adequate training in bioterrorism and report
that they do not feel adequately prepared to respond to such an attack. Nursing-specific
bioterrorism training has long been needed.
To meet this need, the Institute for Bio-Security and Missouri Nurses’ Association
(MONA) are partnering to produce and distribute a new training program on bioterrorism
preparedness specific to the needs of nurses. This innovative educational CD-ROM
based program will be available in December 2004. It will be distributed free
of charge to all MONA members. There will be a nominal fee to others who wish
to purchase this product. Nursing continuing education units will be offered.
Information on how to order this program will be made available through the Institute
for Bio-Security website and through this newsletter later this fall. Stay tuned!
