The Terrorism Knowledge Base (www.tkb.org) is Now Online
We have recently received notice from the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT) that the Terrorism Knowledge Base (http://www.tkb.org) is now available for online viewing and research.
The MIPT Terrorism Knowledge Base (TKB) is a free databank of global terrorist incidents, organizations, and legal data related to terrorism. The TKB offers:
* 35+ years of international terrorism data
* 5+ years of worldwide domestic terrorism data
* 20+ years of terrorism indictments in the US
* GIS mapping of groups and attacks
* Group and leader profiles
* News and additional information sources
The TKB also has analytical tools like statistical summaries, trend graphing, and side-by-side group comparisons. Visitors can create all manner of graphs and charts examining incidents by region, by target, by tactic, by weapon, by group and more.
TKB users can search through an interactive map and directory, through keywords or through an advanced search option. Terrorist group profiles include Quick Facts, with information on related groups and key leaders, links to biographies and photographs where available.
The system was created under a grant provided by the Department of Homeland Security, in collaboration with RAND, DFI International, the University of Arkansas and the University of Oklahoma.
