Institute Plans Flu Education Campaign with Experts from Around the Country

In light of the unanticipated shortage of flu vaccine this fall and the increasing likelihood of a global flu pandemic, there is an urgent need to prepare actionable, evidence-based, anticipatory guidance for a flu education campaign.

The Institute for Bio-Security at Saint Louis University is enlisting the aid of experts at Saint Louis University, Washington University in St. Louis, the City of Branson, MO Health Department, and the University of New Mexico to quickly develop media-based prevention/infection control/self-treatment educational material whose release could be timed to coincide with the onset of the flu season. We expect to publish this material on our Institute website and distribute this material through the CDC network of Public Health Preparedness Centers. The initial planning meeting is set for early November, with deliverables ready for distribution in the weeks to follow.
