Dr. Rachel Schwartz

Robert Thomas is a physician who currently practices Occupational Medicine in the St. Louis area.

He earned an MD from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and an MPH/TM (Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine) from Tulane University. Thomas is Board certified in both Aerospace and Occupational Medicine. He was a Clinical Professor at the Residency in Occupational Medicine program at Saint Louis University, School of Medicine and held an academic appointment at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS).  He is retired from the Ford Motor Company where he had worked as an Occupational Health physician for a number of years.

During his military career, Thomas' operational role was with the Air Rescue and Recovery Service and as an advisor through Major Commands.  He had operational experience in South and North East Asia, the South Pacific, the Indian subcontinent, Africa, Middle East, Central and South America, and the Arctic. This allowed him to see rare infectious diseases while they still existed in their native form and witness their effect on patients and communities.

He also worked with anti-terrorism intelligence groups in South East Asia, Northern Ireland, the Middle East, and Central America. In addition, he has had experience with biological agent introduction during research at the Primate Center in LA. He was in charge of the classified Global Medicine Course taught to Flight Surgeons in the Air Force and has taught the biological warfare courses for U.S. and Canadian forces.
