This course will examine bioterrorism – the hostile infliction of disease, and how National and Global governance should manage the challenges it raises. The issue will be addressed from a variety of perspectives including: political, legal, medical and public health, with a special focus on international cooperation in dealing with bioterrorism. |

Course Description:
This course will examine bioterrorism – the hostile infliction of disease, and how National and Global governance should manage the challenges it raises. The issue will be addressed from a variety of perspectives including: political, legal, medical and public health, with a special focus on international cooperation in dealing with bioterrorism. |
Course Objectives:
- The student will understand how bioterrorism developed, including methods, motivations, and specific diseases; and how it is different from other forms of terrorism.
- The student will understand the role of science in both the creation of bioterrorist weapons and in preventing their creation and use.
- The student will understand the role of law-enforcement and public health in preventing and responding to bioterrorism.
- The student will develop an understanding of the role of bioterrorism on the international stage and the importance of international cooperation in fighting bioterrorism.
