Computing requirements

Every student in the program should have access to a PC running the Microsoft Windows operating system (Windows 98 or better) or the Macintosh operating system (MacOS 9.0 or better).

Blackboard uses your browser to display information and interact with you. Firefox works well and is recommended however the newer versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape (7.0 or better), and Apple's Safari will also work.

We highly recommend that students use a broadband connection such as a DSL, cable modem, or LAN while taking these courses. A dial up modem will work but we cannot guarantee that all of the content will get to the users in a reasonable amount of time with a dial up modem.

Each student should have Microsoft Office on their computer to open documents. (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint minimum). We will also be using Adobe Acrobat "pdf" files frequently and therefore require at least Acrobat Reader which can be dowloaded for free from Adobe.

Note: As a student enrolled at St. Louis University, you may purchase Microsoft® software at a significant discount.
